Workshops
I am available to present workshops relating to elementary music and percussion. Here I have listed workshops that I would love to present for your teachers or university students.
1
Story Time in the Music Classroom
Children's books can inspire artistic experiences, create meaningful content connections, and serve as springboards for dynamic activities in the elementary music classroom. This session explores diverse ways to incorporate children's books into music lessons and shares student-tested activities that teachers can immediately implement in their classrooms.
2
Baby Steps in Orff-Schulwerk
Many teachers are drawn to the Orff-Schulwerk approach for its emphasis on creativity and diverse musical media. However, those just starting their Orff training or coming from other philosophical backgrounds may struggle to find meaningful ways to incorporate Orff strategies into their classrooms. This session explores practical and accessible ways for any music teacher to begin implementing Orff-inspired lessons into their curriculum.
3
Timpani Mallet Making
From self-led exploration to becoming the owner and mallet-maker of Edwards Mallets nearly two decades later, timpani mallet making has been a journey of both passion and expertise. In this session, I present participants with a broad overview of what goes into making a timpani mallet from scratch and guide them through the process of sewing their own cartwheel-wrapped mallet.
